Mosquito (11U)

RMMBA MOSQUITO DIVISION 2024

Year born: 2013-2014

Spring Season

Mosquito (11U) will be a tiered division where athletes have the opportunity to try-out for the Competitive division, or can opt into our Recreational division.

There will be four Competitive teams consisting of 40 players total with a minimum of 16 first year (2014) players.  Following the evaluation process coaching staffs will be selected for each division based on what division the players are assigned to.  We encourage everyone who is willing to come and help coach to please volunteer!  There will be many training opportunities as well as coach mentoring throughout the spring.  We believe having a strong community of coaches with all sorts of experience levels will help foster the development and keep baseball FUN!

The Comp division is designed for experienced players who are invested in the game of baseball.  After the players are evaluated and coaches are assigned they will hold a draft to balance out the teams.  No player requests for team placement will be considered in this league.  Games days for the division will be Wednesday and Saturday with a practice day to be determined by the coach, and skill development Mondays.  They will have two game days and a minimum of one practice per week.

The Rec division is designed for those who prefer to participate in a more recreational style of play. At this level there is a greater focus on participation, increased opportunity to explore a variety of positions, and having fun!  This league will also be an excellent opportunity for new athletes to try the sport in a fun, and encouraging environment.  This division will also have a draft at the conclusion of evaluations and we encourage as many parent volunteer coaches that can dedicate a little time to please come out!  If you are new to the sport yourself but have a passion for giving kids the opportunity to play we would love to hear from you!  The number of teams in this division will be based on coach participation.  If there are not enough coaches to accommodate everyone, players may end up wait-listed so we encourage as many of you that can volunteer to please do so!   Games days for the division will be Tuesday and Saturday with a practice day to be determined by the coach and a skill development night on Mondays.  They will play two games and one practice per week.  Due to the draft process there are no player placement requests for the division outside of coaches who are coaching together.

During the evaluation process, parents will be able to indicate if they would like their child to be considered for Comp division selection. Interest in the Competitive division does not guarantee placement and will be determined by the evaluation process. Please reach out to the Mosquito commissioner with any questions about which program is appropriate for your child.  We encourage everyone to participate in the evaluation regardless of what division they want to play in.  It helps the draft stay balanced and it will also be another chance to come out to the new facility and have some fun!

Summer Mosquito Program

The 2024 Summer All Star program will be much more competitive this season.  RMMBA has adopted a new and more focused direction that will provide more training and development to help our teams be as prepared as possible for their run to the Provincials. There is an opportunity to create and maintain many teams at this level from within our organization and RMMBA will make as many opportunities open to our players as possible.

The summer program will begin full time mid-June until the end of July. Mosquito All Star teams represent Ridge Meadows and there is some regional travel. All Star teams may also qualify to participate in the Mosquito Provincials.

This is an excellent program designed to assist players further developing their baseball skills in a competitive environment.
